Former Kaduna State Central politician Shehu Sani has reacted to Aisha Buhari’s comment that incoming presidents no longer need to travel abroad for treatment.
According to Information Nigeria, Aisha declared at the recently inaugurated N21 billion Presidential Wing of the State House Medical Centre in Abuja that successive presidents and their family members will no longer need to seek medical treatment abroad.
According to her, she first considered a Presidential Wing in 2017 following her husband’s lengthy stay in London for medical treatment.
“I’m quite happy, feeling fulfilled,” she remarked. Even though we are departing, we are grateful that the project has come to fruition.
“I’ve been doing it for six years. I started this effort six years ago when my spouse spent three months overseas in a row, 90 days in a row. And it shouldn’t be because Nigeria is brimming with professionals. All we need is a solid foundation.
“The hospital that is supposed to serve the First Family serves around 35,000 people, which is quite a large number.” That’s why I insisted on having a VIP Wing close to the presidential villa.
“This one is for the First Family’s health and well-being.” They don’t need to travel abroad right now. They merely need to fly in professionals to assist our people. You are aware.
“As a result, there is no need for any leader to spend months and months overseas because of health-care services.”
Sani responded on Twitter, saying that while the Buharis were in office, they never trusted or patronized the clinic, but that the incoming administration should.
“Nigeria has medical facilities and professionals to care for a man from birth, adulthood to manhood until they become leaders, when it is only possible abroad,” he tweeted.
“After eight years of not trusting and patronizing their Villa Clinic, they now furnish it and want the next President to do so.”
