According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea’s owners have conceded that firing Thomas Tuchel last September was a mistake.
Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, the team’s co-owners, sacked Tuchel after only a few games this season.
Boehly brought in Graham Potter from Premier League rivals Brighton almost immediately.
Potter was also fired after only seven months in command.
Although the partnership with Tuchel was never going to work in the long run, it is now agreed that it would have been wiser to keep the German coach for a season to allow for a more orderly transition.
The Americans also believe that they overcompensated by hiring Potter since he was so skilled at negotiating with CEOs and owners.
Frank Lampard was put in interim charge of the Blues, while a deal has been agreed with Mauricio Pochettino to become the new permanent boss.
