Following the attack on the US embassy convoy in Anambra, the United Kingdom (UK) has warned its people against traveling to particular states in Nigeria.

Information According to reports in Nigeria, the warning comes two days after an attack on a convoy of US consulate officials in Ogbaru Local Government Area by unidentified gunmen on Tuesday.

Remember that the convoy was carrying nine Nigerian nationals: five workers of the US Mission in Nigeria and four officers of the Nigeria Police Force, who were on their way to a US-funded flood response project in Anambra.

Unfortunately, four members of the convoy were slain.

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) of the United Kingdom issued the warning. On Thursday, the government of the United Kingdom warned nationals not to travel to Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Cross River.

“The FCDO advises against all travel to the riverine areas (ie, river and swamp locations accessible by boat but not by road) of Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River States,” the advisory stated.

“The FCDO advises against all but necessary travel to Abia State and non-riverine areas of Delta, Bayelsa, and Rivers States, as well as Anambra State in the Ogbaru area, close to Delta State.”

“This comes after an attack on a US diplomatic convoy on May 16, 2023.” The event is being investigated.”Secessionist groups are active in the South East, and attacks and violent battles with military and other security personnel are common.

“Although foreign nationals are not usually targeted, you could be caught in an attack.” “You should be on the lookout for local government announcements and media coverage,” it added.
