Gareth Bale, a former Real Madrid striker, has urged La Liga officials to take strong measures to combat racism in football after Vinicius Jr was racially harassed at Valencia on Sunday.

On Monday night, Bale posted the statement to his Instagram account.

The Welshman captioned two images with his old Real Madrid colleague Vinicius Jr:

Racism has no place in football or society! La Liga needs to take serious and unequivocal action to stop this from happening.

“All my support to Vinicius Junior.”

Bale and Vinicius shared the Real Madrid pitch 27 times but did not assist each other for a single goal.
