The Nigeria Police Force has stated that it will preserve the country’s democracy at any costs.
Kano State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Usaini Gumel, offered the guarantee in a statement to newsmen on police readiness for the state’s governor-elect’s swearing-in ceremony on May 29, 2023.
He stated that the police will not accept any attempt to foment tension in order to derail or confuse the governorship inauguration on May 29, 2023.
According to the statement,
“I sternly warn all political actors with subversive agendas to abandon such agendas.”
The Command also advised touts to abandon their ambitions, calling them as accomplices and foot troops exposed to political radicalization and extremism.
“As a result, regardless of his or Her political associations will be dealt with if she continues to participate in behaviors that are detrimental to our nation’s democratic and security interests.
“The Nigeria Police and relevant security agencies are committed to defending our democracy, maintaining internal security order, and ensuring stability, as well as optimally deploying our common unique assets to ensure the successful conduct of the inauguration ceremony.”
CP Gumel encouraged the public to work with security forces to ensure a successful transfer.
