Over an unpaid ransom, a man was arrested in Adamawa for allegedly kidnapping and strangling a six-year-old boy.

Adamawa State Police Command officers nabbed a 29-year-old man named Abubakar Kawu for allegedly kidnapping and strangling a 6-year-old boy named Abdulhafiz Buba Aliyu.

According to the police, Kawu, who owns a dry cleaning firm in Jada, kidnapped the boy on May 12, 2023, and demanded N3.5 million in ransom from his father.

Muhammed Buba Aliyu, the boy’s father, phoned the suspect and informed him that he could only afford N50,000.

After spending two days in the bush with the youngster, the suspect became enraged and strangled him to death.

When he was apprehended, the suspect admitted to killing the youngster.

SP Suleiman Yahaya, the state police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed the occurrence.Nguroj stated that after an investigation is completed, the command will ensure that the culprit is prosecuted. He also recommended parents and guardians to keep an eye on their children’s movements.
