Lionel Messi is said to have asked Barcelona to sign his Argentina colleagues Angel Di Maria and Leandro Paredes ahead of a possible return to the club.
According to El Nacional, Messi wants his countrymen to join him in his spectacular return to Barcelona this summer, as manager Xavi is ready to recruit the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner as a free agent.
Messi’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of the season, and he has decided not to extend with the French Ligue 1 winners.
However, Barcelona’s pursuit of Messi has recently met a snag due to the confirmed exits of two of his close pals, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.
Di Maria and Paredes are two other 2022 FIFA World Cup winners.
Di Maria’s contract with Juventus expires at the end of the season, while Paredes has spent the season on loan at Juventus from PSG and does not want to return to the Parc des Princes because Messi will not be there.
As a result, Barcelona is now being asked to sign Messi.
