Carlo Ancelotti, manager of Real Madrid, has slammed La Liga officials, alleging that their game against Valencia should have been called off after Vinicius Jr was racially assaulted.
The Italian admitted that La Liga has a major problem but failed to confront it.
When the two sides met in La Liga on Sunday night, Valencia fans hurled racial epithets at the Brazil international, who was sent out in the last minutes of the game after a scuffle between the players.
And legendary Ancelotti wondered why the game could continue despite vitriol directed at the Brazilian by opposing fans.
“They should have suspended the match then and there. It wasn’t one person. It was a whole stadium that went crazy,” he told reporters after Real Madrid suffered a 1-0 defeat.
“I had never before seen a whole stadium being racist. Maybe I’ve seen a few people being racist, but I had never seen that from a whole stadium.
“The atmosphere was racist. This was unacceptable. This league has a racism problem.”
