Kunle Afolayan, a Nigerian producer and director, has received the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award, AMVCA 2023, for ‘Best Indigenous Language’ (Yoruba) for Anikulapo.
Anikulapo received the most nominations (16), followed by Brotherhood, which was nominated in 11 categories, and Shanty Town, which received 11 nominations.
Femi Adebayo’s King of Thieves (Agesinkole), Funke Akindele’s Battle on Buka Street, Jade Osiberu’s Brotherhood, and Kunle Afolayan’s Anikulapo, Kayode Kasum’s Ile Owo, Mugisha Morris’ Tembele and Winifred Mena-Ajakpovi’s Four Four Forty-Four slugged it out in the Best Overall Movie category.
The 9th edition of the event is now taking place in the Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

With a razzmatazz of colorful black carpet moments, Africa was experienced by stars.
Toke Makinwa, Uti Nwachukwu, Sika Osei, and VJ Adams served as black carpet hosts, entertaining celebrities who walked the red carpet tonight.
The 9th edition of the award would, as usual, let spectators to vote for the best dressed male and female celebrities of the night.
The event was hosted by IK Osakioduwa, a popular Nigerian TV and radio broadcaster, and Zozi Tunzi, the South African Miss Universe 2019.
