Seun Kuti, the embattled Afrobeat singer and son of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, who is being held at the State Criminal, Investigations and Intelligence Department, SCIID, Panti, Yaba, Lagos on the orders of the Yaba Chief Magistrate Court for assaulting a police officer, has been crowned the ‘General Overseer’ of his cell by the inmates.

Vanguard also learned that Seun was so enraged by the unfortunate events that he refused to Eat the meal that has been prepared for him, including food brought by his wife. He went on a hunger strike for over a day and a half before ultimately starting to eat.

Seun was observed clutching the Bible tightly in his left hand while climbing the steps leading to the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge, Waheed Ayilara, when Vanguard visited the Department at Panti at 2:30 p.m. yesterday.
