A Dangote Cement Factory truck smashed and killed a police officer at the Saiten Petrol Station end of the Abeokuta-Lagos Expressway in Ogun State.

Florence Okpe, the state spokesman for the Federal Road Safety Corps, said in a statement on Wednesday that no fewer than five people were injured in the late Tuesday incident.

The incident included nine vehicles, including a Dangote truck, a tipper, a yellow bus, an armored tank, a Toyota RAV4 and three motorcyclists, according to her.

Okpe stated that one person was killed in the crash, which involved eight victims, seven male adults and one female adult, and that two others were retrieved unharmed.

She explained that the accidenthappened when the driver of the Dangote truck attempted to overtake a car at high speed, adding that the driver lost control, collided into other vehicles, and then plunged into the river.

Okpe stated that the impact of the collision caused the Toyota RAV4 car to burst into flames, which were extinguished with a fire extinguisher obtained from a nearby filling station.

“The injured victims were taken to Ota General Hospital for treatment.” “One person identified as a police officer on duty was injured and taken to the hospital by the FRSC rescue team, but he later died,” according to the statement.
