Abdulmajid Kwamanda, leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, has warned that President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu must not pick Rabiu Kwankwaso, candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the February 25 presidential election.
According to Information Nigeria, Tinubu and Kwankwaso met in France to discuss the latter joining the former’s cabinet after he enters office later this month.
Speaking to media in Kano on Thursday, Kwamanda claimed the party would not welcome Kwankwaso, who won only Kano in the presidential election.
Kwamanda further warned that if the NNPP candidate is selected for a portfolio by the president-elect, the Party in the zone will withdraw its support.
“We from the north-west”Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is not welcome in our APC party. “We reject the idea of Bola Tinubu appointing him even as a messenger in our dear party,” Kwamanda remarked.
“If Tinubu ignores our protests and appoints Kwankwaso, we will destabilize the entire APC in the north and withdraw our support for him.”
“If we set the party on fire, not even Tinubu as president will be able to put it out.” We are the north, and these are our people.
“We have invested all of our efforts, integrity, and dignity in the North to mobilize the people to vote for Tinubu, but they refused to vote for a fellow northerner just for him to win in the region, and now he has won in the region.”Come and embrace our main rival. That will not be tolerated.
“We assure Tinubu that if he chooses to ignore our call, we will abandon him.” We do not welcome Kwankwaso to our party and do not make appointments for him.”
