Darius Ishaku, governor of Taraba State, has refuted claims that he approved N2 billion for the purchase of expensive vehicles as severance gifts for himself, his deputy, Haruna Manu, and their wives.

“At our most recent SEC meeting, Governor Darius Ishaku asked the council to approve a memo he presented for the purchase of vehicles for himself, his deputy, and their wives, and it was quickly approved without any argument,” a Premium Times source stated.

According to the story, the governor’s memo specified that he would receive two Toyota Land Cruiser SUVs, two escort Toyota Hilux trucks, and a utility vehicle, while his wife would receive a Land Cruiser SUV, all for N1.3 billion.

According to the article, the deputy governor, he would receive two lower-level Land Cruiser SUVs and one escort car, while his wife will receive one SUV and a utility vehicle.

But, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Bala Dan-Abu, on Sunday, Ishaku disputed the news, claiming that it was untrue and the work of the opposition to smear his image.

According to the statement, the report was “just the imagination of social media writers.”

“It has nothing to do with it. We don’t want traditional media to believe it,” he added.
