Thibaut Courtois, the goalkeeper for Real Madrid, has predicted who will win this season’s Champions League final between Inter Milan and Manchester City.
The Belgian international wants his compatriot Romelu Lukaku to hoist the champs League trophy, thus he is cheering for the Italians to defeat the English champs.
Inter will be heavy underdogs in the Champions League final against Manchester City on June 10th in Istanbul, with the Citizens appearing unstoppable and on course for the treble.
Pep Guardiola’s side have already won the Premier League, their fifth in six seasons, and are expected to beat archrivals Manchester United in the FA Cup final on June 3rd.
Real Madrid, Courtois’ club, were eliminated from this year’s Champions League.
Manchester City will combat the semi-finals in style, but he is rooting for the Italians because of his pal Lukaku, who has spent the season on loan at the San Siro from Chelsea.
The fact that another Belgian, Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne, will also play in the final did not sway Courtois’ decision.
“I hope Romelu can win it. Obviously it’s him against Kevin, but I’ve known Romelu for a bit longer.”
