Lamidi Apapa, the Labour Party’s (LP) factional leader, has urged the Nigeria Police Force to investigate the LP’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and other individuals reportedly parading themselves to derail President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s inauguration on May 29.
Anyone pushing for interim government should be arrested, according to him.

The LP faction’s national publicity secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, revealed this in a message to journalists in Abuja on Saturday, amid mounting tensions around Tinubu’s inauguration as president.

Some opponents have called for a boycott of the event, while others have filed lawsuits to prevent it from taking place.

According to Arabambi’s statement, Obi and others attempting to prevent the inauguration are indulging in anti-democratic acts.As a result, they should be held accountable.

It stated,

“If anyone calls for an interim administration, including Peter Obi, they should be arrested by Usman Baba-Alkali, the Inspector-General of Police.”

“There is no one above the law.” You cannot strive to bring Nigeria to war while also claiming to want to lead the country.

“We, in the Labour Party, say a resounding ‘NO’ to Peter Obi’s evil call that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu not be sworn in on May 29.”

“From now on, anyone calling for the establishment of an interim administration, threatening fire and brimstone, or acting in a way that is likely to disrupt the peace should be arrested.”

Arabambi also chastised the LP’s legal team for neglecting to brief the faction on the petition pertaining to Tinubu’s purported attempts to prevent his inauguration.

He went on to say that the Apapa-led Labour Party cannot continue to rely on lawyers who are not dedicated to their mission and do not share their ideals.

“I also want to assuage Nigerians’ fears by stating that the Alhaji Lamidi Apapa-led Labour Party has no intention of withdrawing any matter from the presidential election petitions tribunal, but as the National Chairman (Apapa) confirmed, he has a right to know what is going on with the petition.”

“If the Party’s legal team at the Abuja tribunal fails to meet our deadline and brief us on the petition within 48 hours, we will sue.”
