The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has warned that no President Muhammadu Buhari appointee facing corruption charges should be allowed to leave Nigeria.

The CNG also stated that the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, should be barred from leaving the nation until all allegations against him were resolved.

CNG Spokesman Abdul-Azeez Suleiman revealed this during a news conference in Abuja on Thursday.

He went on to say that anyone with such objectives should be treated as enemies of the state and dealt with in accordance with the law of the land.

Suleiman stated:

“We demand that when President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration leaves office, all key office holders be asked to clear themselves of all liabilities.”awaiting allegations of corruption and other wrongdoing against them.”

The CNG insisted, in particular, that the CBN Governor be forced to account for his tenure to the incoming administration, and that any study leave approved for Emefiele or any other suspected official should be revoked in the interests of a peaceful transfer of power, accountability, and good governance. The CNG noted that just lately, on Monday, May 15, 2023, the Nigeria Police headquarters revealed that plots to derail the May 29th official inauguration of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and state governors were true.

Suleiman stated that CNG demands that anybody or group caught even slightly implicated in the financing, direct execution, or concealment of information on this diabolical and diabolic conspiracy be handled as a treasonous criminal and enemy of the state and fellow citizens.

The organization also encouraged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC, to broaden its investigation of corrupt activities to include all government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

It stated that it opposed the alleged intention to limit the searchlight to onlyoutgoing state governors and urge that the EFCC Chairman conduct a comprehensive investigation that includes the Presidency, Federal Government ministries, parastatals, and cabinet members from the outgoing administration.

He went on to say that the group also requested a comprehensive investigation into claims against the EFCC as well as the crippling amount of debt accumulated for the country by the previous administration.
