Adamu Garba, a senior member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has stated that former Abia State Governor Orji Uzo Kalu is eligible but will not be elected president of the 10th Senate due to the party’s poor performance in the South-East.

Adamu, who appeared on Arise Television’s morning show on Monday, expressed optimism that the Senate Chief Whip would withdraw from the Senate presidency race.

The position was assigned to the South-South by the APC National Working Committee, with Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State and Barau Jubrin of Kano State chosen for Senate presidency and deputy, respectively.

However, Kalu supporters have asked that the seat be assigned to the South-East region, citing the Chief Whip as the strongest candidate.applicant for the role.

Mr Garba, however, stated on Arise TV that the congressman should first organize the people in his region in order to properly align with the ruling party.

He stated,

“I am confident that Senator Orji Uzor Kalu will withdraw from the race for Senate President.”

“He is qualified, but his performance from the South-east is significantly low.” He should find a means to organize the South-east so that it can forcefully mainstream with the APC.”
