Fatima Malam, a middle-aged woman, is on the run after allegedly stabbing her neighbor’s 6-year-old daughter, Sherifat Usman, at Gadon Kaya Damatsiri in Kano State’s Gwale Local Government Area.

According to reports, the suspect stabbed Sherifat over her husband’s purported plot to get another wife with the help of the victim’s father.

According to The Punch, a source in the region revealed that Fatima stabbed Sherifat multiple times in her stomach in retaliation for her father’s alleged meddling into her marital house.

According to the source, Fatima was enraged when she discovered that Sherifat’s father, a close friend of her husband, had been the one urging him to pursue a divorce, second wife.

However, Fatima’s husband, Mallam, stated that his wife is mentally ill.

However, the investigation found that Fatima had enticed Sherifat to accompany her to Mariri in Kumbotso Local Government Area, where she stabbed the young girl multiple times on her stomach.

“On their way to Mariri, Fatima borrowed a kitchen knife.” “She took Sherifat to an unfinished building and stabbed her several times on her stomach with the sole intent of killing her,” the insider explained.

“Fatima wanted to kill Sherifat because she believed her father was the one who encouraged her husband to take on a second wife.”

“Fatima has been behaving strangely recently. She pulled out a pestle one evening a few weeks ago, threatening to kill someone if her spouse marries another woman.”

It was further reported that after stabbing Sherifat, Fatima fled the scene, assuming the little child was dead.

However, her cries attracted passers-by, who eventually raced into the unfinished structure and rescued the little girl who had survived the heinous crime.
