On May 22, the Ogun State Police Command arrested Adeyemi Babatunde for reportedly r*ping his 5-year-old biological daughter (name withheld).
The 28-year-old suspect was apprehended after the mother of the victim filed a complaint at the Ijebu Mushin divisional headquarters, stating that her daughter has been complaining of pain whenever she wants to urinate as well as whenever she bathes her and touches her private part.
She pressed the little girl to tell her what had happened to her private region after noticing this. When her mother was not at home, the victim informed her that her father had lay her on the bed and pushed his manhood into her private region.
Following the report,CSP Simire Hillary, DPO Ijebu Mushin division, swiftly dispatched his detectives to track down the offender, who was subsequently apprehended.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly admitted to the act but claimed not to know what was going through his mind at the time.
Confirming the incident, the state police command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the state Commissioner of Police, CP Olanrewaju Oladimeji, has ordered that the suspect be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department’s Anti Human Trafficking and Child Labour section for further investigation and prosecution.
