Musa Abdullahi, 24, of Riga Fada community in Kumbotso LGA of Kano State, appeared before a magistrate’s court for reportedly setting fire to his girlfriend’s family house after she dumped him for another suitor.
Abdullahi, who was charged with threatening the peace and attempting to commit murder, was also suspected of setting fire to the residence of his former girlfriend’s parents, which resulted in some of her body being burned.
Barrister Amal Bashir Albany, the prosecution’s counsel, requested that the charges be read to the defendant.
After hearing the charges, Abdullahi pled not guilty, and the Judge, Rabi Abdulkadir, ordered that he be remanded in a detention facility and that the matter be adjourned until June 1.
