Yesterday, March 9, in the Shogunle neighborhood of Ikeja, Lagos, a train traveling at high speed collided with a bus carrying employees of the Lagos State government. One of the survivors of the collision has described the sequence of events that led up to the collision.
The survivor, who only went by the name Titilayo, claimed that they begged the bus driver to wait for the train to pass, but he refused.
Speaking to journalists, she said:-.
“The incident took place around 7:15 in the morning. We continued traveling after reaching the PWD intersection in Ikeja. He was urged to wait for the train to pass before crossing by other passengers inside the bus, including myself, but he didn’t heed our pleas.
Just as he was about to complete crossing the rail tracks in Midway, the accident occurred. A large number of us were transported right here, and five more were delivered to Gbagada General Hospital. “.
