According to Mr. Fidet Okhiria, the managing director of Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), the staff bus driver is to blame for the train/bus collision that occurred on Thursday, March 9, on the rail track in the Sogunle neighborhood of Lagos.
The staff bus driver reportedly refused to stop for the approaching train, according to Okhiria, who spoke with journalists.
He uttered the following:.
“According to information I gathered at the scene of the incident, they claimed that many cars stopped when they reached the level crossing while the driver of the Lagos State Staff Bus continued to drive for an unknown reason.
Perhaps the driver believed he could pass before the train came closer to him. We deduced that the bus was crushed by the train after he was unable to pass.
“The train arrived in Iddo from Ijoko. “.
The NRC MD also urged drivers not to drive past the place where they ought to stop.
Following the incident, Lagos governor Sanwo-Olu said that the preliminary investigation indicates that the bus driver’s error was to blame for the accident. The driver, he claimed, had survived the collision and was currently in police custody.
The accident claimed the lives of six people and injured many more.
