The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, has been given duty by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to provide meters, transformers, and other assets for consumers.

This information was revealed by the NERC’s Commissioner for Consumer Affairs, Aisha Mahmud, during the meeting’s opening session on Wednesday in Abuja with the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).

She argued that distribution firms, or DisCos, are obligated to provide customers with meters in every case.

It was our responsibility to inform people that getting a meter is their right because discos aren’t doing you any favors by giving you one, she said.

The commission will continue to educate consumers about their rights, Aisha Mahmud stated.

Adeoye Fadeyibi, the managing director of AEDC, reiterated that the business is committed to resolving all customer complaints while being represented by Olajumoke Delano, the head of regulatory and government relations.

The Electric Power Sector Reform (EPSR) Act of 2005 gives NERC the authority to oversee the Nigerian power sector.
