Some candidates for the House of Assembly running on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Osun State have said that they are getting ready to hold a big rally for Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This is meant to help Tinubu reach his goal of becoming Nigeria’s president in 2023.
The candidates have also started going from house to house to ask people to vote for Tinubu, who they say will bring hope to Nigerians.
Rabiu Kwankwaso was the presidential candidate of the NNPP, but four candidates for the National Assembly left him in September to support Tinubu.
One of the many reasons the candidates left NNPP was that they didn’t like how the party was run at the national level. They also didn’t like how the party members didn’t follow the principles of justice, law, and democratic party management.
Afolabi Muideen Abayomi, speaking on behalf of the party’s candidates for the House of Assembly, said yesterday in Osogbo that they have since realized that the party’s current structure in Osun State doesn’t have a vision of the new Nigeria that the people want.
He made it clear that they were not at all ready to sell their candidates for president, the National Assembly, and the House of Assembly to the people of the state with less than two months until the election.
Abayomi said that when they went from house to house to campaign, they found out that the people of Osun are so set on having Tinubu as their president that campaigning for any other candidate might be a waste of time, so they decided to stick with Tinubu.
“With less than two months until the 2023 elections, NNPP hasn’t been campaigning for Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the party’s presidential candidate, or any of the other candidates running in Osun. We can’t keep waiting.
He said, however, that nine Assembly candidates are planning a huge rally for Tinubu with the help of other National Assembly candidates who had already dumped Kwankwaso. At the rally, people from all over the state will be persuaded to vote for APC candidates.
Both the candidates for the national assembly and the state assembly praised “Secretary, Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, for always listening to us and for embracing us when he saw that we could deliver Osun for Tinubu.”
