The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has been invited by the Federal Government to investigate charges of fund misappropriation related to the N-Power Program.

There have been some inconsistencies in the payment procedures for N-Power beneficiaries, according to a statement released on Wednesday by Dr. Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs.

“Some employees of the Payment Service Provider (PSP) engaged in the sharp practice, necessitating the invitation of the anti-graft agency for a full investigation.

When we learned of some shady tactics used by Payment Service Provider employees involved in beneficiaries’ payment operations, the case was immediately reported to the ICPC for inquiry, the official added.

The permanent secretary assured the Federal Government’s accountability and openness in other National Social Investment Programme and the ongoing N-Power while acknowledging that some people had been invited for questioning as part of the investigations.

According to him, the Ministry had enlisted the help of other departments, ministries, and civil society organizations to monitor compliance inspections around the country.

He assured the recipients that the government would continue to pay their monthly stipends as anticipated and urged them to give their all at their Place of Primary Assignments.

Sani-Gwarzo nevertheless urged Nigerians to report any instances of program violations.
