The New Nigeria Peoples Party’s (NNPP) presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso has thrown caution to the wind by attacking his rivals in advance of the 2023 polls.
On Tuesday, Kwankwaso mocked the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and Labour Party, Peter Obi, in a video posted to Twitter (LP).
A PhD-holding former governor of Kano State claimed that, “unlike a secondary school cert holder or diploma cert holder,” he has the best credentials to lead Nigeria.
Speaking in Hausa, Kwankwaso claimed to be the strongest candidate for president and to have a thorough understanding of how the Nigerian government functions.
“Nigerians should vote intelligently this time around because the nation needs a hero.
“I’ve worked with the ministry of defense, held office as governor of Kano State, and served as a senator for Kano Central for a number of years, so I have the understanding to know what is required.
“Unlike someone with a high school certificate or a graduation certificate, I have a PhD. I’m not a spare tire or a “bed wet,” he declared.
The secondary school diploma holder remark is unmistakably a dig at claims that Obi never attended the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), while the spare tyre jab was intended for Atiku, a two-term vice president who was previously referred to as a “spare tyre” by his principal, Olusegun Obasanjo.
In the meantime, Tinubu may be the target of the bedwetting joke after a video surfaced early in the year showing the APC candidate’s garment covered in what many assumed to be pee.
