Charles Iliya, who used to be the vice governor of Gombe State, joined the party in power on Saturday.

Iliya was the vice governor for Ibrahim Dankwambo. According to our correspondent, he has served as a crucial pillar for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party in Gombe South.

He was brought up when the APC’s campaign to get re-elected started.

The North-East PDP youth leader Kabiru Jauro is another well-known defector. He promised to help Governor Muhammadu Yahaya win his bid to stay in office.

Isyaku Gwamna, who used to work for Atiku Abubakar and ran for governor as a PDP candidate, also spoke. He told thousands of supporters that his move was necessary.

“It was better to trust what you had seen than what you were told,” Gwamna said.

Yahaya said that the support was real because of how well he had done since 2019. The governor said, “The support is real because of how we’ve done.”

Danjuma Goje, who used to be governor and is now a senator for Gombe Central, was the only candidate who didn’t show up.

Goje and the governor of Gombe State got back on good terms just before the APC primary election, where Goje won a seat back in the Senate.
