FG makes Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day public holidays

The Federal Government has made Monday, December 26, and Tuesday, December 27, 2022, holidays in honor of Christmas and Boxing Day.

Also, the first day of the new year, January 2, 2023, was made a day off from work.

In a statement released by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Shuaib Belgore, on Thursday, Rauf Aregbesola, the interior minister, asked Nigerians to pray for an end to the country’s lack of safety.

The statement said, in part, “We must imitate the life and teachings of Jesus Christ on humility, service, compassion, patience, peace, and righteousness, which is what His birth means. This is the best way to show what Christ is like and to celebrate his birth.

“Peace and safety are two of the most important things for economic growth and prosperity. We ask Christians and other Nigerians to use this time of celebration to pray for the end of all forms of insecurity in our dear country.

“The government has put in place effective measures to protect lives and property, and Nigerians are expected to support these efforts by giving security agencies useful information that will help them do their jobs.”

The Minister told Nigerians to stay away from anything that could mess up the elections in 2023.
