The Ado Ekiti Division of the Federal High Court has given Yinka Akinwande a four-year prison sentence for stealing noodles worth N5.5m.

According to the charge, the defendant “between August 2015 and October 2019 in the Ado-Ekiti Judicial Division under false pretense and with the intent to defraud unlawfully obtained goods (noodles) worth N5,575,540 from one Bolanle Akarakiri, thereby committing an offence.”

According to a report from Punch, the police prosecutor, Mr. Samson Osobu, said that the defendant committed the crime when she was working as a sales representative for the complainant. He called the complainant and the investigating police officer, John Olotu, as witnesses and gave them evidence.

R.A. Mohammed, who represented the defendant, asked the judge to be fair because her client was a nursing mother with a four-year-old child.

Justice Babs Kuewumi said that he thought about the defense lawyer’s plea for mercy.

“The prosecutor has proven his case with the evidence, so the court finds the defendant guilty as charged.” “I’m sending the defendant to jail for four years,” he said.
