President Muhammadu Buhari called the terrorist attack in Turkey “vile and cowardly.”

At least six people died and many more were hurt in the attack in central Istanbul on Sunday.

At 16:20 local time, a bomb went off on a busy shopping street near Taksim Square.

President Buhari said that the attack made the Nigerian people “shocked and sad.”

He told Turkish President Recep Erdogan that Nigeria would keep helping in the fight against terrorism around the world.

Buhari said that people are thinking and praying for the families of those who were killed.

In a statement read by his spokesperson Garba Shehu, he said, “We wish those who were hurt a full and speedy recovery.”

Fuat Oktay, the vice president of Turkey, said that the authorities think a woman set off the bomb.

She sat on a bench for more than 40 minutes, according to an analysis of CCTV footage.

The person being investigated left a bag behind that blew up a few minutes after she left.
