Aloy Ejimakor, who is Nnamdi Kanu’s special lawyer and the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB, has said that his client can’t be charged with anything.
Ejimakor was responding to the new charges that the Federal Government brought against Kanu.
The seven-count terrorism charge against the leader of the IPOB was changed by the Nigerian government on Friday.
In a broadcast, the Federal Government said that Kanu had said that anyone who didn’t follow IPOB’s order to stay at home in the South-East should write their will.
The government said that Kanu made several broadcasts in 2018 that told his followers to kill security agents and their families.
In response, Ejimakor blamed the Federal Government for bringing the same charges against Kanu again and again.
He wrote, “Charges for recycling are not the problem. Any prosecutor can play around with charges, but because of the extraordinary rendition and the Abuja and Umuahia judgments, none of the charges against Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will ever stick. Never!
“The Presidency should know that the Stay granted by the Court of Appeal did not stop compliance with the 2018 Continental Tribunal Decision, the UN Opinion, and the Umuahia Federal High Court Judgment, which all support letting Mazi Nnamdi Kanu out of jail and not bringing any new charges against him.”
