Before the general elections in 2023, Dr. Williams Kumuyi, the General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, said yesterday that he would not support or disqualify any candidate for President.
Yesterday, when he arrived in Jalingo, Taraba State, for a global church workers conference, he spoke.
Dr. Kumuyi said that Nigerians should be able to choose democratically who will lead them, and that people should keep praying that God will make their choice the best one for the country.
“I don’t want to get into recommending or not recommending people,” he said. All we do is pray that God will give our country the best leader and president. He knows who everyone is and what they will do when they arrive. And God does his work in such a mysterious way that we can’t predict what will happen if someone comes in and tell him that.
“But we know that God used Nebuchadnezzar and all the other rulers in Bible times to do what he wanted. And not all of them were on this side of the fence or in this theological camp. We want to leave everything up to God and let the people of Nigeria choose who will run the country by voting democratically.”
He used the forum to ask church leaders in the state to encourage their pastors, ministers, and workers to go to the conference. “This is the first time we’re doing this all over the world, and the Lord chose Taraba State to be the starting point and anchor of this impartation,” he said.
Dr. Jirapye Magaji, the state chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, welcomed the Cleric and said that the Christian community in the state was grateful for the chance to host the conference.
He also gave the priest a plaque to thank him for his good work in God’s vineyard.
