The Gombe State University chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities has said that it will not release the exam results of students and will stop supervising undergraduate and graduate projects if the government doesn’t pay the union members’ salaries for the time they were on strike.
This was said by the union in a statement that was given to our reporter on Thursday.
The branch chairman, Suleiman Jauro, signed the statement, which said in part, “The Congress of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Gombe State University branch, at its meeting held today, Wednesday, November 2, 2022, received the report of the talks between the branch’s leadership and the University administration about the release of the withheld salaries.
“After a lot of discussion, the Congress decided that since the University administration wouldn’t pay the salaries for August and September, members wouldn’t turn in the results of the first Semester exam for the 2021/2022 session and wouldn’t keep supervising projects that were given to them before the strike started.
