Success Akpan was caught by police detectives from the Idimu Division in Lagos State after a stolen dog was found in his pepper soup pot. He was already selling the soup to customers when he was caught.
According to P.M.EXPRESS, the incident happened on Olorunsogo Street in the Ejigbo neighborhood of Lagos, where Akpan has a store.
When Akpan, who was born in Akwa Ibom State, was caught, he said he bought the dog for N12,000 from a man named Abu, who turned out to be a thief. Akpan said he didn’t know the dog was stolen.
Akpan got into trouble when the seller, Abu, stole a dog from his mother’s tenant in Idimu who had not paid his rent.
He is said to have stolen the dog and sold it to Akpan before the news got out and he was caught. The police stopped him and told him to bring the dog back.
During questioning, Abu, the suspect, told the police what he had done and led them to Akpan’s shop. But Akpan had already killed the dog and used it to make pepper soup before they got there.
Akpan was also arrested and taken to the station. He was charged with conspiracy and theft, but the dog’s owner said that Akpan begged him to pay for the dog.
The problem was that the dog’s owner kept saying he wanted his dog back, but Akpan told him he had already killed the dog and was selling the pepper soup before he was caught.
Police sources say that both Akpan and Abu will be charged in court if the dog’s owner keeps saying he wants his dog instead of the N80,000 that Akpan offered to pay to settle the situation.
