The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) says that there is no set date for the Abuja-Kaduna rail service to start up again.
DAILY POST says that in March 2022, bandits attacked the Kaduna-Abuja train. They killed some people, hurt others, and took over 60 people hostage.
The train service between Abuja and Kaduna had to stop for a while because of this.
But a few days ago, there were rumors on social media that train service would start up again on November 24, 2022.
In a statement released on Monday, the Managing Director of Nigeria Railway Service (NRC), Fidet Okhiria, explained the company’s position and said that the report was false. He asked the public not to believe such false reports.
He said that the federal government is trying very hard to get the trains running again, but that there is no set date yet.
“I want to tell the public that the news is wrong because there isn’t a set date yet,” he said.
He said, “It’s true that the Minister said we’d start running on that route again in November, and all the right people are working to make sure that happens before the end of the month.”
The NRC Managing Director said that the government is working hard and is committed to protecting the lives and property of the esteemed passengers. He also said that all the things that need to be done will be done before service resumes.
