The Time Is Not Right To Redesign Money, says Kate Henshaw

Famous Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has voiced concern over the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) unexpected decision to redesign some naira notes.

President Muhammadu Buhari had authorized the redesigning, production, and circulation of new N200, N500, and N1,000 notes, according to CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele, who also requested that the Deposit Money Banks (DMB) holding the existing denominations of currency begin returning these notes to the CBN immediately.

In her response to the news, Kate denounced the action and pointed out that there are urgent problems that the nation needs to solve right away.

In the midst of everything that is happening—elections, floods, insecurity, etc.—Nigeria is to redesign. The Naira is being revamped and given up in just a few weeks, so it can happen! Some traders in the Nigeria I am familiar with will soon stop receiving cash payments.

“The lines will be an absolute disaster! Cite me What about individuals who live in remote areas, deal mostly in cash, and commute long distances to the nearest bank?

Why not discontinue it gradually? I don’t understand!
