The 2023 Appropriations Bill will be passed and signed into law in December, according to Senate President Lawan


The appropriation bill for N20.5 trillion for 2023, which President Muhammadu Buhari presented to the joint session of lawmakers on Friday, will be passed into law in December, according to the president of the Nigerian Senate, Dr. Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan.

After receiving the Grand Commander of the Order of Niger (GCON) from President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, Lawan revealed this at a reception held for him.

President Buhari’s final budget before leaving office on May 29, 2023, was submitted to the National Assembly on Friday. It was titled the “Budget of Fiscal Sustainability and Transition.”

Lawan added that, in order to adhere to its deadline, Senate debate on the appropriations bill would start on Wednesday.

“We have a goal and are narrowly focused. The presidency’s decision to award us 12 honors was not made in vain.
