Sector 2 soldiers of operation Hadin Kai allegedly stopped several tons of marijuana on their route to Tungus, a terrorist base on the Nigeria-Niger Republic border.
Umar Muazu, the sector 2 commander’s chief of staff, brought the substance on Tuesday to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) state office in Damaturu.
Muazu claims that the courier escaped the marijuana-laden truck when he saw soldiers on patrol in the area.
According to Muazu, “No suspect was detained since they all fled away when they saw the patrolling squad trying to catch up with him and abandoned their vehicle.”
They were bringing these supplies to the terrorists’ hideout because these are the things that the terrorists use to get drunk, which is a necessary condition for them to act in the manner that they do.
“Now that it has been taken away from them, we are doing more to put an end to these terrorists in the Northeast, by the grace of God.”
Peter Ogar, the Yobe-based NDLEA deputy commandant, complimented the military for fostering cooperation among security services.
A forensic examination would be conducted on 98 packets of the medicines, which had a market worth of over N4 million, according to him.
