According to kingmakers in Ogbomoso, they have not yet received a letter from the Oyo State Government indicating whether the nomination for the position of the next Soun of Ogbomoso has been authorized or denied.
According to DAILY POST, the departure of the previous Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi, left the post of Soun of Ogbomoso empty.
On December 12, 2021, Oba Oyewumi passed into eternal rest. At the time this article was filed, the Soun of Ogbomoso job was still open.
It was heard that the kingmakers had chosen one of the potential Soun of Ogbomoso candidates.
Because the nomination has not yet been approved by the state government, the position is still open.
On a live radio broadcast in Ibadan on Saturday, the state’s governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, stated that he rejected the suggestion for the new Soun.
Makinde pointed out that this is the result of legal challenges to the nomination brought by individuals who insisted they were left out.
However, the kingmakers claim that they were never notified in writing by the Oyo state government whether it had accepted or rejected their proposal for the new Soun of Ogbomosoland.
High Chief Sobalaje Otolorin, the head of the kingmakers, who spoke on their behalf, stated that as of today (Sunday), the kingmakers had not yet received any letters.
Otolorin, who is also the Areago of Ogbomosoland, stated that the kingmakers were not informed verbally or in writing that their proposal had been rejected.
We didn’t get any response opposing our suggestion for the new Soun, he claimed.
Maybe those who were assigned to deliver the message are still traveling.
But as of this morning, we have never received anything of the sort.
