Nnamdi Kanu: No Igbo man on Buhari’s security council – Ezeife

Chukwuemeka Ezeife, a former governor of Anambra State and an Igbo leader, has criticized President Muhammadu Buhari’s security council, pointing out that there isn’t even an Igbo man in the group.

The national security council said that Nnamdi Kanu would stay in solitary confinement even though the Appeal Court ruled that he was not guilty of any of the charges that the Buhari government had brought against him.

Ezeife said on Monday’s “The Morning Show” on Arise Television that a government advisory group like the security council should have thought about how further detaining Nnamdi Kanu would make the country less safe.

“Our leader, Prof. George Obiozor, the president-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, called me the day the issue came up and told me that he was getting ready for us to go see the President to convince him to let Nnamdi Kanu go. He said that very soon, he would set up an appointment for us to go see the President.

“I don’t know how independent the National Security Council is. But either the National Security Council or the Security Council should look at the situation and make a decision based on what is happening on the ground.

“By the way, there is no Igboman there. And this is one of the things that bothers Nigeria’s young men, because Buhari’s government is doing everything it can to get the South East to leave Nigeria.

“But they won’t be able to get us to leave Nigeria. Here we are. We chose one Nigeria by the way we walked. The National Security Council should have done more than just become part of the government.
