Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has said that he has faith in the Igbo people and that he thinks they could run Nigeria if they were given the chance.
The governor said this on Wednesday when Igbo PDP Forum paid him a courtesy visit in Makurdi, the state capital. He said that people from the South-East are friendly and hard-working.
Ortom says that the Igbos are peaceful and that they can get along with other groups of people in the country.
He promised to keep telling people in power about the constant attacks on Benue people by people who might be armed herders.
“The Igbo are friendly and willing to work hard. They are a group that can get along with other ethnic groups, unlike those who are killing my people, and they want me to keep quiet.
“I will never be quiet about how herdsmen keep attacking my people until the government does the right thing. “I will keep speaking out against unfairness,” he said.
