Nasir El-Rufai, the governor of Kaduna State, denounced the killing of two herders by a crowd in the state’s Birni Gwari LGA on Sunday.
According to DSMEDIA24, two herders in Birnin Gwari LGA were lynched by mobs on the suspicion that they were bandit informants.
Following this, Governor Nasir El-Rufai issued a warning to locals in the LGA not to lynch a suspect in an effort to seize control of the law.
The governor, while condemning the mob action, warned residents to be law-abiding and stop action that may lead to violence and a complete breakdown of law and order, according to a statement released on Sunday by Mr. Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State.
While expressing his great worry over the mob attack on two herders, El-Rufai also urged locals to stop carrying out extrajudicial killings.
He further emphasized that reporting complaints and criminal-related issues to law enforcement officials is the only method to receive prompt redress.
The statement also urged the victims’ families to maintain their composure and ordered security services to launch thorough investigations in an effort to identify the offenders.
