Army kills eight terrorists in Niger after Boko Haram attack


A purported Boko Haram attack on an army barracks in New Bussa, Borgu Local Government, Niger State, is said to have resulted in at least eight deaths.

According to reports, the gunmen assaulted the barracks in an effort to free some of their captives.

The event, according to DAILY POST, happened on Saturday at around midnight.

Witnesses reported that eight people were killed, captured, and several military personnel received minor injuries during the raid.

“The military engaged the terrorists in a fierce battle. The Air Force was requested for assistance by the Army. They engaged in gunfire exchanges with the heavily armed Boko Haram fighters who flocked to the barracks in large numbers.

“Many Boko Haram militants managed to flee with varied degrees of wounds,”

In order to prevent any retaliatory attack by the armed gunmen, security has been stepped up around the barracks, according to information obtained by DAILY POST.
