Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State, asserts that Babagana Zulum, the governor of Borno Stateleadership ,’s style, is to blame for the Boko Haram insurgency’s decline.
During a visit to Bauchi on Sunday to mourn the passing of his older brother Bappa, Governor Mohammed praised Zulum for the way in which he had brought the turbulent northeastern state of Borno back to peace.
I’ve worked closely with you; you’re a young man and the youngest but oldest of us, he remarked. It is understandable why you are our North-East Governors’ Forum chairman given your extensive knowledge of the region’s and nation’s developmental issues.
“You have truly displayed leadership and pedigree. I was unaware that you were coming (to Bauchi). You are displaying that kind of leadership in Borno and throughout Nigeria.
“We strive to imitate a little bit of the courage you have. You dare all the thugs and con artists who are barraging us. Even Mr. President is proud to be linked with you today. The fact that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has paid you the most visits says a lot.
“Boko Haram has disintegrated, and we are working very hard to ensure that we protect our jurisdiction after you have secured the epicenter of terrorism and carnage,” we said.
“We are happy to be affiliated with you and proud of you. Yes, despite the fact that you always refute it, we are the northeast’s administrative center and not Borno. But without a doubt, we are aware that we gave you the reins.
“I made sure that the northeast had a say in the direction of this country when I was running for president. I enquired of this man, “Are you running? I don’t have to run if you are since I know you can do it faster than I can, but I still admire him for doing it. I completed my part of the work; perhaps he will join us later.
“A presidential candidate and a vice presidential candidate are running today. He is an up-and-coming hero that the nation and our zone both greatly appreciate.
Governor Zulum previously stated that he was in Bauchi to express his condolences to the governor, his family, and the whole state government on the terrible tragedy.
“I grieve with you and offer my condolences on the passing of your elder brother on behalf of the government, the wonderful people of Borno State, and my family.
“May the All-Powerful Allah in His Infinite Wisdom grant the governor, his entire family, and the people of Bauchi State the courage to suffer this terrible loss. May He also pardon him and accept him into Jannatu Firdaus.
