2023: Umahi discusses his triumph in the Appeal Court and issues a warning to criminals in Ebonyi

David Umahi, the governor of Ebonyi State and chairman of the South East Governors Forum, issued a riot act to alleged thugs and criminals on Sunday, particularly in light of the impending general election in 2023.

The governor also discussed the overturned decision by the Appeal Court, saying that after being fired by Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja, he immediately hurried to the altar of God and prayed.

Umahi said this while speaking to APC members and stakeholders at a Thanksgiving ceremony held at the brand-new Government House Chapel in Centenary City, Abakaliki.

He referred to the Appeal Court’s decision to reverse the ruling as a prayer that God had heard and answered.

Recall that Justice Inyang Ekwo of the federal court dismissed Umahi and his deputy, Eric Kelechi Igwe, for defecting to the APC.

He claims: “After the first judgment, I rushed to the altar in prayer, and God granted my request with a counter judgment that gave the win.

Are we not expected to come and thank God now that the higher court has decided that we should stay after the lower court asked us to leave? He spoke.

However, the governor ordered all alleged miscreants and criminal elements to leave the southeast region immediately, warning that it would soon be unsafe for them to stay there. Umahi said, “Enough is enough.”
