President Muhammadu Buhari, APC governors from the North, and other Northern leaders, according to All Progressives Congress presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, have demonstrated to him that Nigeria can survive her unity and other obstacles.
When he delivered his policy document and action plan for a better Nigeria to Afenifere leaders on Sunday in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, at Pa Reuben Fasoranti’s house, Tinubu made this statement.
Recalling his prior meeting with Pa Fasoranti on March 4 of this year, when he was conducting a national survey ahead of the APC primaries, Tinubu claimed he promised the Afenifere leader he would return after securing the APC ticket.
Tinubu urged Yoruba leaders to thank the Northern Governors and President Buhari for their resolve and commitment to upholding their word, asserting that he had come to uphold his word.
Tinubu continued, “The North demonstrated to me Nigeria can sustain its unity. President Buhari’s openness and guarantee of his support to ensure he wins the election. President Muhammadu Buhari declined a request from some people to announce someone. He insisted that democracy be used to carry out the process.
“Northern APC Governors decided that the South, and particularly the South West, must get the presidency. I had the support of Governor Nasir El-Rufai, Abdullahi Ganduje, and others to the very end. It was a difficult battle, and I had my doubts at one time. There were numerous rumors, and I didn’t know which to believe.
