The Labour Party (LP) candidate for president in the 2023 general elections, Obi-Datti, will lead a march in Lagos with four million of his supporters.
The march will take place on Saturday, October 1, 2022, in three key cities, the Lagos4Obidatti Central Organising Committee announced at a news conference in Lagos.
According to Christopher Ademuyiwa, the chairman of the publicity and media committee, the demonstrations would happen simultaneously in Lekki Phase 1, Archbishop Vinning Memorial Church, GRA, Ikeja, and the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) field in FESTAC.
The Obidients in Lagos are getting ready in big numbers to demonstrate their support for the presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed during this march that is more akin to a carnival. Additionally, it is planned to use buses to transport Obidients to and from their destinations; the bus pickup sites would be announced on social media, he added.
“Our march is legitimate and constitutional,” Ademuyiwa continued. It takes place during the election period and according to the calendar made public by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The proper channels have been used to officially and properly notify the security authorities.
He promised that the police, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) would all be present to offer security.
