Prof. Rufai Ahmed Alkali, national chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, has pleaded with Nigerians not to choose a president who would often skip public events.
At the party’s National Social Media Social Media Training Program’s opening on Tuesday in Abuja, Prof. Alkali gave a brief side address on the subject of “Approaching 2023 General Elections with Social Media as a Tool for Mobilization.”
Kwankwaso, he asserted, is “a guy of substance, a man of courage, a man of drive who has already left so much mark in his life,” and NNPP is working hard to win the presidential election.
In order to hurt his reputation, he continued, many people made up the notion that he would support presidential candidate Asiwaju Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu after they were unable to find any information to support their claims.
Even before the campaigns started, he questioned how Dr. Kwankwaso, who is in terrific physical condition, could give his ticket to a man who routinely dozes off at public events.
Alkali observed that Nigeria will have a president who would sleep for the following four years if the presidential candidate continued this behavior at official events.
“Everyone else tried to get at him (Kwankwaso), but they were unable to learn anything unfavorable about him. Because of this, they claimed, we would give our ticket to a different man who frequently slept at events.
“How can a presidential candidate be dozing off even before the election, which means that if they are, we will have a sleeping president for the next four years if they are elected. Do you want a president who is sleeping?
The truth is that Nigerians shouldn’t elect a president who is dozing off, he remarked.
