The Academic Staff Union of Universities was told to end its ongoing statewide strike by the Nigerian National Industrial Court on Wednesday.
ASUU has reportedly been on strike since February 14 to emphasize its demands for increased financing for universities and a reassessment of professors’ pay, among other things.
ASUU and the Federal Government had held a number of discussions that came to a stalemate.
As a result, the strike was contested in court by the Federal Government.
According to TheCable, the government requested an interlocutory order from the court to stop ASUU from continuing its strike while the court considered the substantive lawsuit. This request was made by the government through its attorney, James Igwe.
