Nigerians residing abroad are exhorted by President Muhammadu Buhari to constantly contribute to the advancement of their nation.
He made the call on Wednesday when he met with selected Nigerians in Lisbon, Portugal.
“Nigerians in the diaspora have thrived and leveraged their skills to raise our country’s profile higher, economically, socially, technologically, and culturally,” Buhari said in a statement released by his media aide, Garba Shehu, on Thursday.
“This is true in every field of human endeavor, be it the creative industries, sports, health, or academia.
This Government created the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) to facilitate and support your engagement with our nation in order to achieve a win-win outcome in our quest to maintain Nigerians’ unity both at home and abroad.
“You must continue to represent us well in the world by your conduct, deeds, and character.” In whatever you do, you must perform at your highest level.
You must remember your home while you are here because you are the example we want to set for the rest of the world.
